Imagine starting your day, grabbing a quick bite and then taking your meal to a public restroom. There you sit on a stall and proceed to eat. A little grossed out! Me too. But that’s what you may feel when you eat in a restaurant that may not have been really cleaned in a while. The sort of non-cleaning where you can see dirt buildup in many places. It may even be your favorite restaurant. Over time the health inspection slips lower and lower until one day its noticed. Then, shock sets in. Your favorite place is getting dirty. That was a realization for me when I visited a favorite restaurant recently. After noticing the restaurant dining area wasn’t as clean as it should be and then noticing that the health inspection had barely yielded an “A”, I haven’t been back. Some may not be overly concerned. But I just can’t seem to get around a slipping health grade and not knowing the cleanliness of where my food is being prepared. For me, if the people who work in the restaurant don’t care about its cleanliness, what am I suppose to think about the cleanliness of the food that’s being prepared and the people preparing it?
Wiping down: Cleanliness is so much more…
Restaurants need to work especially hard when it comes keeping their facility clean. The daily wiping down of the table tops and other counters spaces just won’t cut it. Besides, it doesn’t do much in removing built up dirt and grime. Sometimes and on a regular schedule, some deep cleaning needs to be done. Time when the scrub brushes, dusting wands and other special cleaning items are used to really make things shine. Too often, eating places do just enough to meet a health inspection and not enough to keep customers continually coming in for a meal. All it takes is a visit just once to feel that the establishment is not as clean as it should be and that customer is lost. Not only is that customer lost, but possibly the potential customers that one customer will influence. So roll up your sleeves, have a chat with your staff, purchase the right tools you need for getting your restaurant really clean and in tip top shape. It will pay in the long run and can positively impact your bottom line.
